Walter Jacob FRICK

Walter J. Frick of Barrington Memorial services for Walter J. Frick, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 401 E. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. Born Oct. 1, 1915, in Sidney, Ill., the son of Cora L. and John J. Frick, he passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington. Walter grew up near Holland, Ind., and moved to the Chicago area to attend Elmhurst College, where he met his wife, Gladys. Walter and Gladys moved to the Barrington area in 1943, where they farmed for 11 years. Walter became an insurance agent in 1954 and was a top insurance producer in Lake County for 35 years with Country Companies. He received numerous awards and acknowledgements for his accomplishments and dedication. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners and St. Paul United Church of Christ, Barrington. He was also the former director of the First Federal Savings & Loan of Barrington, a former member of the board of directors of the Cook County Farm Bureau and a former board member of Barrington Township. Mr. Frick loved gardening and traveling. He was a devoted and beloved husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Gladys (nee Maier), who he married June 22, 1940, in Skokie; son, Bud (Page) of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandchildren, Dianna and Kyla Frick, and Lauren (Dave) Tremblay; nephews, David (Bonnie) Frick of Crystal Lake and Dennis (JoAnna) Frick of Glendale, Ariz.; and a niece, Debbie (Tom) Cooper of Crystal Lake. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ, 401 E. Main St., Barrington, IL 60010 or the Auxiliary of Countryside Center, 367 Shoreline Road, Barrington, IL 60010. Arrangements were made by Davenport Family Funeral Home, Barrington.
