Services for Albert Friedrich Hinkeldey, 85, Alta, were held Jul. 17that St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Alta, Rev. Henry Kuhn officiated.The Jones-Barker Funeral Home, of Alta, was in charge of the arrangement. He died July 14, 1987 at a nursing home in Storm Lake. Hinkeldey wasborn Jan. 19th, 1902 in Alta and attended St. John's Parochial School,rural Alta. On March 12, 1930 he married Lillie Grieme at Hanover. Thecouple farm west of Alta from 1930 until 1966 with a retired to Alta.He then was employed at Alta Lumber for several years. In March 1985 they move to Buena Vista Manor, Storm Lake. Hinkeldey was a member of theSt. John's Lutheran Church where he held several offices. He was a pass member of the Alta hospital board. He was preceded and death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and a granddaughter. Survivors includehis wife; three sons Arlin, Alta; Vernon, Spencer; Gaylen, AlbuquerqueNM; one brother Ed, Storm Lake; one sister Mrs. Eitel Frieda Mohn, Aurelia; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Albert Friedrich Hinkeldey, son of Herman and Sophie Hinkeldey, was born in Buena Vista County, Jan. 19 in the year of our Lord 1902. He was baptized into the Christian faith at St. John's Lutheran Church, a rural Alta on Feb. 9 ofthat year. Albert grew up on the farm north of Hanover. He attended theLutheran school and was confirmed in his faith March 28, 1915. After his schooling he worked out for a number of years and also ran a road maintainer for the county. On March 12, 1930 Albert was united in marriage with Lillie Grieme in the ceremony at St. John. The Lord bless theirunion with three sons. Albert and Lillie settled on the farm west of Alta and farm that land for 36 years. Albert was an active member of theSt. John's congregation. He served as trustee, elder, and was a memberof the building committee when the parsonage was built. At the time thenew church was constructed, he built the cabinets for the Sunday school classrooms. Albert also served on the board of the Alta Memorial Hospital. Albert retired from farming in 1966 and moved to the home in town. He worked for the Alta Lumber yard for number of years. In the springof 1985, Albert went to the Buena Vista Manor in Storm Lake. Robert was called from his life to his heavenly home Tuesday morning, July 14, 1987 at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 25 days. He has proceeded in death by his sister Anna Nielson; two brothers, Herman and Marilyn; andby a granddaughter, Dawn Albert is survived by his wife, Lillie; threesons, Arlin and his wife Marilyn of rural Alta; Vernon and his wife, Beverly of Spencer and Gaylen of Albuquerque, New Mexico also mourning his death are his brother, Ed Hinkeldey of Storm Lake; a sister, Frieda Mohn of Aurelia; by 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; by a large number of nieces and nephews and other relatives, friends, neighborsand the members of his congregation. Funeral services were held Friday,July 17, 1987 at 1:30 PM from St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Alta with Pastor Henry Kuhn officiating. Organist Rhonda Christiansen accompanied vocalist Lawrence Turnquist as he sang "How Great Thou Art". Attendance for his grandsons, Douglas Hinkeldey and Keith Sudtelgte, Craig Gebhard, Bruce Hinkeldey, Craig Hinkeldey and Mike Hinkeldey. Intermentwas in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Alta, under the direction of the Jones Barker funeral home, Alta. This information was published by The Alta Advertiser, July 22, 1987.
