Maple Valley Farmer Victim of Cancer Mon.

Funeral Services Held This Thursday Afternoon at Hanover

Extensive Land Owner-Born November 19th, 1870-Was Great Community Booster and Builder

On Monday of this week Herman J. Hinkeldey passed away at his home south of Alta following an illness of several weeks duration. He has alwaysbeen a great worker and it was only last December that his health began to fail. He consulted his home doctors, as well as specialists at Rochester and Sioux City, with the same results each time. Each doctor diagnosing his case as cancer of the stomach. His condition gradually grewworse in spite of the efforts of medical science and the care of his family. Funeral services were held from the St. John Lutheran Church atHanover this Thursday afternoon and burial was made in the Hanover Cemetery with Rev. Wehking in charge. Herman J. Hinkeldey was born November19th, 1870. In 1883 he moved to western Iowa, located on the same farmfive miles south of Alta where he was residing at the time of his death. He was married to Sophie Honsbruch. The children remaining to mournthe death of their father in addition to his wife are Albert, who liveson his fathers farm in Nokomis Township and Herman, Edward, Anna, Martin and Frieda all at home. Tow brothers, Dick and Henry and three sisters, Mrs. Fred Vast, Mrs. Fred Steeve, and Mrs. Dick Honsbruch are all living in the vicinity. Mr. Hinkeldey was confirmed on April 12, 1885 inthe St. John Lutheran Church of Hanover, by Rev. Philip Dorself. Mr. Hinkeldey has rightfully merited the distinction of being classified asa good neighbor and a loving father. He has always worked hard and histhrift has won him much return and has acquired extensive land holdingsin Maple Valley and Nokomis townships. He was always acting in the interest of seeing his community progress and prosper and to worthy causeshe was always willing to contribute liberally with both his time an money. His passing will leave a vacancy that will be hard to fill. The many friends of the family extend their sympathy in this time of sorrow.
