Theodore Liborius DUESBERG

Notes for THEODORE LIBORIUS DUESBERG: Theodore Laborious Duesberg was born on Aug. 15,1859 to German immigrants, John Henry William Duesberg -aka Dusberg,Dusenberg, Duesenberg and Marie Elizabeth Popplemeyer. The birth took place on their farm by St. Libory, Ill. He had two sisters to welcome him. Sophia was born in 1843 or 1844 in Germany. Her mother probably did not come to America and died before Sophia came with her father. She was sixteen and a half at his birth. His other sister, Anna Maria, was born July 4, 1849 at St. Libory,Ill. She was ten years old when he was born. Theodore was named after his baptismal sponsor, Theodore Buerman. The other sponsor was, Mary Recker. His baptism was Aug. 19,1859 at the St. Libory Roman Catholic Church,St. Libory,Ill. There is a story that when they were at the baptism, the priest only had down Theodore for the little baby. He stopped the proceedings to ask what his other name was. From the the proud father came the loud announcement. " Call him Laborious!", which surprised the baptismal group. He lived at St. Libory, Ill. until he was nineteen with his family. His mother died on July, 1862 when he was almost three. It wasn't long before his father married Adelaide Knowle. When he was nineteen, 1878, Theodore, John Henry Wiliam & Adelaide moved by covered wagon to St. Libory,Nebr. to work on the railroad that was being built. His father homesteaded land which they farmed. In 1884, Theodore married Anna Mary Zwingman in Howard, Nebr. They lived here for the birth of nine children. His father had died in Feb., 1885 and his first child,William. The Duesberg family moved by covered wagon to northwest Ks. where friends and relatives,Henry Reimer and William Korte lived by Angelus,Sheridan Co.
