Montezuma Press, Thursday, December 12, 1957: MRS. ELLA ZIRKLE OF ENSIGN DIES Mrs. Ella Zirkle, 83, resident of the Ensign community for many years, died yesterday in the Bethel Home where she had been a resident for the last two years. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday by H. Dean Beagle at 11 a.m. in the Hulpieu-Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City with burial in the Stafford Cemetery. Mrs. Zirkle was born February 22, 1874, in Tennessee. She moved to Carruthersville, Mo., when she was a child with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elvis Hester. She and William Zirkle were married on March 15, 1894, at Carruthersville. They came to Kansas after their marriage and lived successively at several places until 1897 when the moved to Stafford County. They lived there until 1928 when they moved to a farm near Ensign. Mr. Zirkle died May 26, 1955. Mrs. Zirkle, who was a member of the Church of Christ, is survived by a son, Elvis of Derby; two daughters, Mrs. Lola Carter of Ellinwood and Mrs. W. A. Sidlinger of Hutchinson; a sister, Mrs. Nettie Pierce of Carruthersville, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
