Notes for this person
Daughter of Ella Winifred Hester and William H. Zirkle. Marred to Monroe Turnbull on 19 Sep 1919. From Stafford Co. Historical Society, newspaper obituary, unknown newspaper or date: Olive Cynthia Zirkle was born September 20, 1900, on a farm northeast of Stafford, Kans. and departed this life June 1, 1943, at Saint Anthony Hospital, Dodge City, Kans., aged 42 years, 8 months, and 11 days. When 14 years of age she accepted Christ and was baptized in Him and became a member of the Bethel Church of Christ, which membership she faithfully maintained until her departure. On September 19, 1919, she was united in marriage to Monroe Turnbull of this community. To this union were born five children, all of whom survive. She lived most of her life in Stafford County. She was a devoted mother and gave her every moment to the training of her children that they might be reared according to the Christian way of life. During the last three years she has suffered greatly from an illness that never was brought under control. The last year of her life was spent in constant and almost unbearable pain. But in it all she was a patient sufferer and kept smiling with always a cheerful word of greeting for all the family and friends. The quality of patience and faith was manifested in her inner life so richly. She leaves to mourn her passing, the husband, Monroe Turnbull, of the home. Also Jeanne and Jerry of the Stafford home; Doloris of Wichita; Mrs. Leona Spear of Wichita; and Mrs. LaVeta Richardson of Newton, Kans. There are two grandsons, Ronald Lee Spear and Douglas Richardson Jr. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Zirkle of Ensign, Kans.; and her aged grandmother, Mrs. J. W. Zirkle of Perryton, Texas. There are two sisters, Mrs. Ben Carter of Ellinwood, and Mrs. W. A. Sidlinger of Hutchinson; one brother, Elvis Zirkle of Dodge City, Kans; and many other relatives and friends who mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Gere of Stafford, and Mrs. Hattie Williams of Oklahoma City, Okla. A true mother has ceased her labors here to enter into that rest where there is no pain or sorrow but joy and peace. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 3, in the Peacock and Soice Memorial Chapel, by Rev. Carl Packard, assisted by Rev. Susie Shrauner. Interment in the Stafford cemetery.
