Notes for this person
- The family first lived in VA, but John and Amelia moved to Guilford
countyand then to Caswell county, NC and then to the Greenville
District of SC. Manyof their descendents still live in the Greenville,
SC area.
- John was a private in the American Revolution; he enlisted and served
from Caswell co., NC.(DAR Index I:87).
From WFT 8:420, NC Archives Cert. 1400. For sundries furnished and cash
paid to the militia of NC, VA and SC, as allowed by the auditorsof
Hillsborough Dist. in Dec. 1781, Report No. 81, Name: John Brockman,
number of vouchers 158, amount 2,500 pounds currency.
- He received a 500 acre land grant on the Little Wolf Island Creek in NC
on 13 Oct 1783 (WFT 8:420).
4.He had a land grant for 516 acres in District 96, SC (OCVF IV:127).
- The Clear Springs Cemetery is close to Simpsonville in Greenville co.,
SC.
- His will was proven 13 Feb 1801.
