Source - Marriage license and ELCA headquarters phone interview. 1900 census indicates she had been in America for 30 years. She lived in Oran Township, Logan County. Obituary: Ratz - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ratz, who died Monday night at her home, four miles east of Rochester, will be held at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon at the residence, Rev. William H. Nicholas, pastor of Grace Lutheran church, this city, officiating. Interment will be made in Buckhart cemetery. Illinois State Journal, 12/8/1915, page 7. Her tombstone indicates her birth year to be 1854. Expenses from Wilson Park Funeral Home: casket - $130; enbalming - $10; hearse - $10; dress - $30; lining - $3; slippers - $2; 2 carriages - $20; express - 62 cents. Total - $205.62. Date on paperwork is December 6, 1915. Sangamon County was not able after 3 tries to locate her death certificate. However, if it is a single letter off, they also will not make a further attempt. Nor can IRAD locate a death certificate for her.
