Nachdem sein Bruder Anthoine ohne Nachkommen gestorben war, erhielt Fulco zu seiner eigenen Herrschaft Hervery noch die Herrschaften Evry, Montmelian und Bleinghem als Erbteil. Fulco Herlin wurde auch "Le Begue" ("der Stotterer" oder "der Polterer") genannt. Er wurde im Verlauf des Genter Bürgeraufstandes gegen den Grafen von Flandern getötet. Den Tod fand er wahrscheinlich in seiner Funktion als Burggraf (Statthalter des Grafen) bei der Verteidigung der Stadt Ypern, als diese anno 1383 durch das Bürgerheer der Stadt Gent und durch englische Hilfstruppen belagert wurde.
