She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul's church in the community north of Hooper, Dodge Co., Nebraska.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif'; color: black; font-size: 11pt; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">She married Gerhard Koester on Feb 12, 1902, in Hooper, Dodge, NE. Anderson, Mrs. W. Byers, Mrs. E. Van Cleave and Miss Elsie Collins sang "JesusStill Leads On" and "Asleep in Jesus," and Wm. Byers of Wayne sang "God Will Take Care of You."</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Times NewRoman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size: medium;">Pallbearers were Clay Wheeler, Elmer Wharton, Millard Martin of Allen, Herman Muller T. M. Gustafson andDr. W. L. Byers. Interment was in the Wakefield cemetery under the direction of the T. C. Hypse Funeral Service. </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size: medium;">Mathilda Koester, nee Wessel, was born in Dodge County, north of Hooper, Nebr., on April 12, 1878. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the St. Paul's church north of Hooper, where she spent her childhood. </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size: medium;">On Feb. 12, 1902, she was united </span></span><span style="font-family:Calibri;"><span style="font-size: medium;">in marriage to George </span><span class="highlight"><span style="font-size: medium;">Koester</span></span><span style="font-size: medium;">, and to this union were born eight</span></span><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size: medium;"> children: Paul, near Allen; Mrs. Percy Lockwood, Allen; Oscar, Allen; Herbert, Allen; George, Ontario, Calif.; Mrs. Alva Olson, Hartington; Mrs. Wallace Isom, Dixon, and Mrs. Wendell Schroeder, Dixon. </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size: medium;">She was a charter member of the First Lutheran church at Allen, and always a devout Christian and faithful church member. She was a member of the Missionary Society and was made a life member of this organization. She taught Sunday school as time permitted her. </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><spanstyle="font-size: medium;">In March, 1943, she moved to Wakefield, where Mr. and Mrs. Koester united with the Salem Lutheran church in 1944. </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';"><span style="font-size: medium;">She is survived by her husband, eight children, 23 grandchildren and five sisters: Katherine Windhusen, Medical Lake, Wash.; Sophie Vollers, Pender; Mina Kunz, Hooper; Gesine Suhr, Piano; 111., and Louise Marx, Scribner, Neb.
