Brief History :

1838 March 7th. Heinrich born in Butzbach to Johann Ernst & Helena Karolina Louisa Zahn. he was the only child of Ernst to survive.

1842 June 26th. His mother, Carolina Louisa, died.

1846 August 9th. His father, Ernst, died. Heinrich would have been raised by his step-mother , Ernst's Widow, Wilhelmine Rau.

Over the period 1846 toat least 1856 December, we know that Wilhelmine continued to operate Ernst's Conditorei business.

1852 Would have been Confirmed, and thereafter entered into Apprenticeship asa Baker.

1854/55 Heinrich, now aged 17 years, would likely have received an inheritence from the Estate of Friedrich Konrad ; per Ref.29.

1855/56 Heinrich would have become a Journeyman member of the Bakers Guild. Per E.M.Notes "As per the old customs he wandered with a 'stock & sock' through Italy., Switzerland and Austria as aJourneyman"

1861 February 6th. Heinrich made application to the Guild to become a Master Baker. 31

It seems likely that at this time he would have taken over the "Family Business". Per the E.M.Notes ; He was very tall, -------, liked to sing, and was very hard working. He was a delicatessen baker (Zucherbacker), and specifically inMarzipan.

1862 June 11th. Birth [out-of-wedlock] of Maria Sophia Kn. to Heinrich & Kath. Hildebrandt.

1862 December 28th. Heinrich a Masterbaker, married Katharina Hildebrandt. They had 2 children.

1863 October 11th. Birth of Heinrich Adam Conrad Kn.

1865 March 25th. The death of the young children's mother, Katharina Hildebrandt.

1865 July 12th. The death of the father of the young children, Heinrich the Masterbaker. At this time Heinrich, not yet 2 years old, and his sister Sophia aged 3 years became orphans.

Wonder what became of the Conditorei Business - did Wilhelmine run it again? Was it sold off?

1865 July 21st., following the death of their father, the 2 children of Heinrichbecame fosterchildren of Konrad Hagemann & his wife Katharina Riegelhuth. See Ref.28.
