Johan Ernst, aged 28 years and 10 months, is a Bürger and master baker, the bachelor son of local Srumpfwebermeister and city accountant Herr. Friedrich Conrad Knabenschuh and his wife Maria Catharina Freÿtag. Elisabetha is the spinster daughter, aged22 years, of Bürger and miller David Bommersheim from Grünberg and his wife Elisabetha Ritter.

In the year of Christ 1833, the 5th of February, were married after the required third proclamation here and inGruenberg... bachelor Johann Ernst Knabenschuh, local burger and master baker, the in wedlock conceived son aged 28 years and 10 months of local stocking manufacturer and city accountant Mr. Friedrich Conrad Knabenschuh and his wife Maria Catharina, nee Freytag ; and the 22 year old Elisabeth Bommersheim, the in wedlock conceived spinster daughter of the burger and miller David Bommersheim in Gruenberg and his wife Mrs. Elisabetha, nee Ritter.

The witnesses were:

1) Heinrich Zimmer, miller in the Stonemill in Gruenberg, the brides brother-in-law.

2) Christian Knabenschuh, the grooms brother,

who besides myself, the first city pastor, who officiated the wedding, signed the present protocol.

1804 Oct. 17th. Wilhelmine Rau born in Bobenhausen II

1818 May 11th. Ernst Confirmed in Butzbach. Thereafter Ernst would have been an Apprentice at the Bakers trade - but to whom??

1822 March 8th. Per 1811-12 Musterlisten, he recd. permission to "Wander" until 1823 Aug. 31st.

1826 to 1831. Per E.M.Notes he worked as a Baker in Amsterdam, Wormerveer, London & Sussex.6

1833 Feb. 5th. A Master Baker. Married Elis. Bommersheim, a Miller's daughter from Grünberg.

1834 & 1836. Two children born who died v. young

1836-1839 Ernst Kn. was the Master to Apprentice [half brother] Joh. Heinrich Knabenschuh [b:1821]

1836 June 14th. Elis. geb. Bommersheim died.

1836 Oct. 31st. "Baker & Konditors Ernst Knabenschuh" had a Wirtshaus at Weiseler Strasse 3 which appears to have been used by a "Revolutionary Group". 23

1837 Feb. 12th. Ernst married Carolina Helena Zahn, daughter of a Butzbach Ironmerchant.

1838 Birth of Heinrich Kn., who later became a Baker - maybe he inherited his father's facilities.

1841 Birth of Johannes Kn. He died 1842 Feb. 24th.

1842 June 26th.His wife Carolina geb. Zahn died.

1842 Nov. 13th. Ernst married Wilhelmine daughter of Cantor Georg Philipp Rau. No children.

The witnesses were :

Andreas Winter, local citizen and handelsman [merchant]

The witnesses were :

1) Johannes Knabenschuh, the grooms uncle, the local burger and master stocking weaver

2) Christian Knabenschuh, the grooms brother, the local citizen and glue maker, who besides myself, the first city pastor, who officiated the wedding, witnessed and signed this protocol.
