When Max and Clara's boys graduated 8th grade they were give the choice by Max of going on to high school or a heifer. Most of the boys chose high school. Herman and Rudy chose the heifer. Kenny chose High School, and they really gave him a rough time about it. They taunted him all the way through. Mom (Peggy Nutsch Pierce) wasn't sure but she thought the rest of the boys also chose high school.
