Slagle,whose health had been impaired for along time, died at the home of herson-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sol Stahl, o her husband was awell known Civil War Veteran. Johnstown Trbune-Democrat NPO 6-20-1924 backpage reads : Funeral Services for Mrs. Slagle. Will be conducted at the S.H. Stahlhome, Eighth Ward tomorrow. Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary Slagle, widow of FrederickK. Slagle, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the S.H. Stahlhome, 94 Rose Street, Eighth Ward and will be Association. Burial willbe held in Grandview Cemetery. Six grandsons of the deceased will serveas pallbearers. The deceased was a daughter of David and Elizabeth (Croyle) Rose andwas born at Waterford, Westmoreland County Feb 10, 1840. She was thesister of Aaron Rose of the Somerset Pike, who served with the 53rdRegiment, P.V.I. during the Civil War, an Mrs. A.I. Hildebrand of theSeventeenth ward. Miss Rose and Frederick Slagle, a native of thiscountry, were married at Davidsville, Somerset County, 65 years ago byJustice Peter Levy. Frederick Slagle died here a few years ago. Heserved in 148 th Regiment P.V.I. during the Civil War. Besides her brother and sister mentioned above, Mrs. Slagle issurvived by two sons, three daughters, 15 grandchildren, and 23 greatgrandchildren. The surviving sons are W.N. of 742 Slagle Street, andHarry of Wilmington Del., and daughters, Mrs. Hoffman of 502 SomersetStreet, Mrs. Sol H. Stahl of 94 Rose Street, and Mrs. J. H. Replogle of916 Von Lunen Road. Mrs. Harry Thomas, another daughter of the deceased,died about 20 years ago. 1900 census - said she had 8 children, 6 living.
