Edward "Little Bud" C. Borneman Jr., 75, of 2600 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, Ind., former owner-operator of Borneman Industrial Supply Inc., died at 12:40 p.m. Monday (June 19 , 1989 ) at Elkhart General Hospital, where he had been a patient since June 14. He was born July 24, 1913, in Elkhart. He married Eleanor Colbert on April 15, 1939, in Elkhart. She survives with a daughter, Mrs. Tom (Ann) Semans, Ashland, Ohio; three sons, Edward "Toby" C. III, Charles R. and David C. , all of Elkhart; 15 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Whitney (Mary Elizabeth) Slabaugh, Elkhart. A sister, Margaretha Stringfellow, died June 8, 1989. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hartzler-Gutermuth Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Episcopal Church, Elkhart: The Rev. Richard Kallenberg will officiate. Burial will be Rice Cemetery. Mr. Borneman was a graduate of Elkhart High School. He attended Duke University and Indiana University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He joined Borneman and Sons Hardware Store, a family-owned business then operated by his parents, Edward C. and Pauline (Shaw) Borneman. The business was founded by a grandfather, the late Herman Borneman Sr., and was sold in 1958. Mr. Borneman then established Borneman Industrial Supply Inc. and served as chairman of the board of directors. A life member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Mr. Borneman served as junior warden and vestryman. He was a trustee for many years at Howe Military Academy, and a founding member and member of the board of directors of the United Cancer Services of Elkhart County. He was a former member of the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Elcona Country Club. Memorials may be given to St. John's Episcopal Church, United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or the Elkhart Humane Society. Elkhart Truth
