William Holz, the son of Ernest and Fredrecia Holz, was born on March 19,1872, in Cook, County, Illinois, and died June 7, 1945 at his home near Rossiville, Kansas. He came go Kansas with his parents in 1884 att the age of 12. He was baptized in Illinois and confirmed on April 3, 1887, here at Immanuel. he lived in the Wells Creek community most of his life. He was married to Anna Beasterfeld on February 12, 1895. they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary this past February 12th. this event was celebrated by all the relatives and they received many cards from friends wishing them a long wedded life. Two sons, George and Alfred and Fred Holz and Mrs. Augusta Martens preceded him in death. His wife and the following children survive him; Rosa Pageler, Belvue, Kansas; Lela Richards, Oakland California; Anna Maas, Davenport Iowa; Walter Holz, Belvue, Kansas; Earl Holz of the home; Wilmont Holz of Camp Ellis, Illinios. Also the following brothers and sisters: Henry Holz, Belvue, Kansas; Ernest Holz, Wamego, Kansas; Mrs. Lizzie Haase, Topeka, Kansas; Mrs. Martha Buchmeier, Paxico, Kansas; Mrs. Sophia Hasenbank, Manhattan, Kansas; Mrs. Emma Breischwerdt, Wamego, Kansas and 8 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and nephews and nieces. Services were held from the home and Immanuel Evangelical and reformed church, Belvue, Kansas, June 9, 19445, with Rev. E H. Fresen officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Singers were: Mrs. Herman Volkening, Mrs. August Erickson, John Abele, Herman Breymeyer with Miss Vada Vern Volkening at the piano. Pallbearers were: Herman Holz, Fred Holz, clarence Buchmeier, Clifford reaser, John Haase and Adolph Breitschwerdt.
