VOLKENING - HOLZ The marriage of Miss Clara Marie Volkening, daughter of Mr. William H. Volkening, to Mrs. Walter Holz, son of Mrs. Wm Holz was solemnized Nov 25, 1952, at 1:00p.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church at Wells Creek. The Rev. Vernon Kurz read the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with white candelabras. The bride's dress was of aqua blue crepe and she had a corsage of pink roses and white carnations. Her jewelry was a double strand of pearls, a gift of the groom. For something old, something new, something borrowed and blue, was rhinestone dress clasp from Mrs. D.O. Pageler, earrings of Mrs.l Herman Piel and a gold bracelet of Mrs. Herman Volkening. The groom's suit was of light navy blue and he had a white carnation boutonnier. Their friends and relatives join in wishing them a happy married life. MRS. CLARA MARIE HOLZ St. Marys - Mrs. Clara Marie Holz, 80, St. Marys, died Monday July 18, 1988, at a Wamego nursing home. She was born Dec. 13, 1907, in the Wells Creek community south of Belvue, the daughter of William H. and Mary Koelling Volkening. She spent her life in the Wells Creek community before she moved to St. Marys in 1975. Mrs. Holz was a member of the Wells Creek Immanuel Church of Christ, Dorcas Circle at the church, Kaw Valley Social Club and wells Creek Community Card Club. She also was a member of the St. Marys Extension Homemakers Unit. She was married to Walter Holz, Nov 25, 1952, in Wells Creek. He died Nov 10, 1965. Survivors include a son Clyde Holz, Belvue; six grandchildren and two great -grandchildren. Services will be at 2 pm Thursday in Vershcelden Funeral Home at St. Marys. Burial will be in Valley Vie Cemetery at St. Marys. Mrs. Holz will lie in state after 11am Wednesday at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 7:30 until 8:30 pm Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Wells Creek Immanuel Church of Christ south of Belvue.
