Seelke Bode was a Brinksitzer. He owned farm No. 64 (1852 “Brandkataster”/census No.) in Leeste. During the 1833 census there was one house with one family and one widower living there. Three years later there was one house with two families and one widower living there. During the censuses in 1939 and 1842 there were one farm house and one cottage on the farm with three families and a widower living there. In 1845 there were still one farm house and one cottage on the land, but only two families and a widower lived there. During the thorough census in 1852, Seelke Bode had retired (German: Althentheiler). His wife was no longer alive but his step-father Hinrich Wetjen was still alive. Seelke Bode's son-in-law Johann Hinrich Kastens and his daughter Beke Bode had inherited the farm. In the cottage that belonged to the farm, a family named Huckemeier and a widow named Gesche Mohrmann were living. (E2)
