Since their return home on April 10 she had been confined to the house all the time, and was bedfast for many weeks. Mrs. Borneman, who was 80 years old on May 4, last, was a native of the Grand Dukedom of Baden, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Frey) Wagner. At the age of 20 she came to America, locating at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where she remained three years before coming to Elkhart to be with her sister, Mrs. Ulrich Hege, and with Mr. Hege. Her marriage to Mr. Borneman took place on her 28th birthday, and they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their union on May 4, two years ago. Surviving beside Mr. Borneman are five children: Herman F., Edward C., George O., and Fred A., all well known businessmen of Elkhart, and Mrs. Rosa Schutes, wife of the Rev. George F. Schutes, who is pastor of the Lutheran church at Valparaiso, Ind. There are 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Philip Wagner of Garden City, Kansas, and the following sisters: Mrs. Ulrich (Christina) Hege of 500 State street, Mrs. Jacob (Anna) Baer of Middlebury street and Mrs. John H. (Elizabeth) Nuding of Wauneta, Neb. Mrs. Borneman was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church of State street, and for 14 years prior to a decade ago was president of its Woman's Aid society. She also held membership in other organizations of the church. The funeral service will be held at home at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 1932, in charge of the Rev. Paul C. Barth. The burial will be at Grace Lawn cemetery.
