Job Allen II was a Captain in the Revolutionary War. Eastern and Western Battalions. He was on a Safety Committee in Morristown, NJ. He was also placed at Headquarters In Morristown with George Washington. This Job II, according to Crayon,"at the age of 17, when his father died, ran the farm, kept store, ran a forge and mill under the Jacksons; was Captain of the Militia in the Revolutionary War, carpenter by trade; rebuilt the Presbyterian church in 1794." He also owned a copperas mine near Green Pond, Morris , where red paint was made and sold during the war. He was a member of the first board of trustees at Rockaway Church and an elder there until his death. This Captain Job Allen II is the second of the name. His father, Job Allen was the leader in the founding of Rockaway Church. His name headed the subscription lists and he was the first elder of the church ordained in 1758. He was a farmer, carpenter, a forgeman, a builder of roads and bridges. The Job Allen Iron Works are mentioned as early as 1748. His grave is unknown. Captain Job Allen II, was ordained as elder in the church in 1793. His father died when he was only 17 years old, but he took charge of the rich farm in Denville, which is now occupied by St. Francis Sanatorium. During the Revolutionary war he raised and commanded a Company of soldiers. He also at this time was operating the coperas mine at Green Pond where he had a trading post serving all that part of the country. The name Job Allen is especially honored in the Rockaway Presbyterian Church because of the long association of the family with the church which they helped to found and to build and to maintain.
