Details: Kenneth 'Ken' L. Fechner Coon Valley, Wis. - Kenneth "Ken" L. Fechner, 72, of Coon Valley passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at his home of natural causes. He was born in Kenosha to Clarence and Mamie (Olson) Fechner on Jan. 16, 1933. Ken served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and later retired from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he worked as a building engineer. Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie Goins of Madison, Debbie Hill of La Quinta, Calif., and Becky (Daniel) Gabsch of Pardeeville; one brother, Donnie Fechner of Madison; and many, many friends in Coon Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry. Ken had requested that in lieu of traditional funeral services, a gathering be held where his family and friends could be with each other and celebrate his life. Ken's family has honored his wishes and will host the event at the Fjord restaurant in Coon Valley on Saturday, March 5, from 1 to 5 p.m. The family wishes to thank the many people that Ken knew who have offered kind words and support, and also suggests that instead of flowers, a contribution be made to the Norskedalen Endowment - Ken Fechner Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 235, Coon Valley, WI 54623-0235. Seland Funeral Home of Coon Valley is assisting the family.
