Details: Kenoshan's Body Recovered in Lake Near Mishap Scene The of Clarence Fechner, Kenosha automobile dealer, who with Mrs. Bernard Magruder of Racine was drowned in Lake Win- nebago, five miles east of Oshkosh last Thursday night, was recover- ed by Sheriff Paul Neubauer late Thursday. A farmer near Indian Point, five miles north of Oshkosh, re- to the Oshkosh police the discovery ot the body. The body was sent to Kenosha for burial. Fechner, with a party including Otto Jandl, of Racine; Benjamin G. Schaefer, Racine autom&ile dealer; and Clifford Brown, em- ploye of Schaefer, were guests of Mrs. Magruder who was vacation- ing at William Horlick's summer home six miles swth of Oshkosh on Lake Winnebago. The group went for a mot«boat ride in the Magruder craft piloted by Floyd Bricknell, Oshkuh, when, ing to survivors, the boat was hit by a large wave which swept the drowned pair into the water, Mrs. Magruder's body was re- covered by Bricknell, but after a futile search for Fechner, the sur- vivors were rushed to shore where were notified. A search for rechner's body lasting several days was unsuccessful due to the wide area of the lake. Mrs, Magruder died shortly after the returning craft reached shore, although artificial respiration and other methods were employed to revive her. Racine Journal Times 11.8.1939
