He married Hermeta Ruth Spangler (1912 - 2004) in 1976, her second marriage, and at that time a widow. Ralph had one daughter, Nancy Burchett by his first wife; Nancy married Ron Cool. Ralph worked as an interior designer and decorator, and at an ammuniton plant. Burchett 1922-1999 --------------- Ralph Everett Burchett, 89, formerly of Lawrence and Olathe, KS, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in Callaway, NE. On Sept. 3, 1936, he married Rosella Ilene Wilson in Lawrence and they had one daughter, Nancy. He was employed by Hercules ammunition plant in De Soto, KS, and retired in 1976. Ralph's wife, Ilene, passed away in 1971. In 1976, he married Hermeta George and moved to Olathe, where they lived until health reasons separated them in July 2000. He lived in Arnold, NE, with daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ron Cool, for the last three years of his life. He was a longtime member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church (now United Methodist) in Lawrence, where he served in many offices, and he served as president of the local union. Preceding him in death were his parents, seven sisters, four brothers, his wife Ilene and grandson, Scott Cool. Survivors include his wife, Hermeta; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ron Cool of Arnold; grandson, Shane and wife Lana of Arnold; and two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by a stepson, Dale George and wife Delores of Olathe, and stepdaughter, JoAnn Tarr and husband Merrill of Shawnee Mission. Ralph had four step-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Arnold at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27.
