McCartney of Roseland RD, Utahville, died at 1:50 a.m. yesterday in the Altoona Hospital. He was born in Mountaindale on Sept. 26, 1875, a son of James W. and Elizabeth (VanScoyoc) McCartney and married Ida Hohn. Surviving are his wife, eight children; Terry of Philadelphia, Mary and Clifton at home, Mrs. Elda Dixon of Fallentimber, Mrs. Floyde Taterus of Shamokin, Mrs. Elsie Kuhn and James of Glasgow and Mrs. Stella Troxell of Utahville, RD; 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a brother, T. V. McCartney of Mountaindale. A son George died last March. Friends are being received at the Troxell Funeral Home, Glasgow.
